Abby Z and the New Utility
Nominated project: abandoned playground
Where to see their work: Abby Z and the New Utility are bringing abandoned playground to the Jacob's Pillow Festival in the Berkshires this summer, performing June 26-30 at the Doris Duke Theatre in Becket, MA.

Beyond Walls
Nominated project: Lynn Lights
Where to see their work: In addition to the nominated Lynn Lights Underpass Lighting Project, 46 pieces of large-scale street art from the 2017 and 2018 Beyond Walls Mural Festivals, as well as 12 pieces of "RetroLit" vintage neon artwork on loan from Dave Waller (the same collection that provided works for the Greenway's recent GLOW exhibition), are on display throughout downtown Lynn, MA. We're also excited about the city's plans to install a new public sculpture in the spring: a conserved 1942 GE IAE Test Engine that was manufactured in Lynn more than half a century ago.

Coleslaw's Corner
Nominated project: Boston's Best Drag Queens at the Boston Museum of Science
Where to see their work: Boston's Best Drag Queens is taking over the Museum of Science again on Thursday, May 30 as a kickoff to Boston Pride Week, and organizers say they're planning many more performances for this fall. You can also catch Coleslaw performing throughout the city: She hosts drag brunch every last Sunday of the month at Trophy Room, and appears regularly at All Star Mondays at Machine Nightclub.

Dell Hamilton
Nominated project: Nine Moments for Now
Where to see her work: Dell will be appearing at an upcoming discussion at the Museum of Fine Arts, "City Talks: Representation," where she'll join Maria Garcia, Senior Editor of The ARTery; Amanda Figueroa, Managing Curator, Brown Art Ink; and Barbara B. Lewis, Director, Trotter Institute, University of Massachusetts Boston for a conversation inspired by the MFA's current exhibition Made Visible: Contemporary South African Fashion and Identity. She was also recently inducted into Now + There's 2019 Public Art Accelerator cohort, so keep your eye out for new work coming summer 2019.

Fujiko Nakaya
Nominated project: Fog x FLO
Where to see her work: The artist created another mesmerizing fog sculpture, "Fog Bridge," for the Exploratorium in San Francisco. A free, outdoor exhibit installed in 2013, the work shrouds a footbridge outside the museum in fog four times each day.
IMAGINE (Sneha Shrestha)
Nominated project: For Cambridge with Love from Nepal
Where to see her work: We love spotting IMAGINE's murals on our travels, from Saya Patri (One with a Hundred Petals) at Allston's Zone 3 to works in Oakland, CA and Astoria, NY.

Joy Buolamwini
Nominated project: AI, Ain't I a Woman?
Where to see her work: Joy is the founder of the Algorithmic Justice League, a coalition that fights bias in algorithms and AI and develops practices and tools to create a more equitable digital future. Check out her work online: from the Safe Face pledge, an opportunity for organizations to make public commitments towards mitigating the abuse of facial analysis technology, to her Gender Shades project, which exposes the racial, ethnic, and gender biases encoded into widely used facial recognition programs.

Harbor Voices
Nominated project: My name translated is Strength
Where to see their work: Harbor Voices is gearing up for IMIMMIGRATION, a large-scale, week-long collaboration with the El Punto Urban Art Museum in Salem, MA. The project will explore immigration and migration storytelling through light, sound, photography, and performance, and will be on view May 11-19, 2019.

Karen Young
Nominated project: Older and Bolder
Where to see her work: Karen is the founding director of The Genki Spark, a multi-generational, pan-Asian women's arts and advocacy organization that uses Japanese taiko drumming to build community and develop leadership. Karen and The Genki Spark is hosting a variety of events and workshops throughout the winter and spring — check out their full lineup here.

Nominated Project: Love Thyself
Where to see his work: Lucky for us, Marka27's mesmerizing murals can be found all over the Boston area— from Lynn and Somerville to Cambridge and Allston to Worcester and Grove Hall — as well as in New York and Maryland. How many can you spot?

Nominated Project: Central Square Mural
Where to see his work: You can find Percy's work at Underground at Ink Block, a highway underpass between the South End and South Boston neighborhoods that's been transformed into an urban park and mural gallery.

Shara Hughes
Nominated project: Carving Out Fresh Options
Where to see her work: Catch Hughes' work at MASS MOCA as part of the exhibition The Lure of the Dark: Contemporary Painters Conjure the Night, on view through March 10. The original diptych she created for her nominated mural is also on view at the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum.

Steve Locke
Nominated Projects: Love Letter to a Library and Three Deliberate Grays For Freddie (A Memorial For Freddie Gray)
Where to see his work: Locke's work is on view at Hillsborough Community College's Gallery 221 as part of the exhibition The Color of Remembering, up until March 6. You have just a few weeks to catch In the Name of Love at the Gallatin Galleries in New York City — it's only on view until March 1. He also co-curated Distance: Works on Paper by Showhegan Alumni at New York's Dorsky Curatorial Projects. If you don't feel like traveling far from Boston, his works are also in the collections of the ICA and Fitchburg Art Museum.
